Click for profile 		Okay, so my roomate and I together can fashion high quality glass "Water Pipes" We spent about a week thrift shopping and garage sailing and found unique/antique vases and bottles... So start up cost wasn't to bad, it was the equipment afterwards that cost a penny. But in the end, it wasn't too bad and we're starting with 25 of them. I plan to sell on a popular handcrafted/vintage website that's pretty popular, and showing a gallery off on facebook, maybe trying to do some consignment on some. Anyway, I managed to some photos today of some of the piece's we've completed. They all have a pretty good story to them, and the way I see it it's economical, because raw glass materials and blowing said is much more expensive, sizes we are offering costing as much as 299.00 usd. We're think in 40-120 USD for some, which more than covers cost. Anyway, I'm not trying to peddle them on here at all, but I would love the opinion of any of my current or former fellow spankers on how they turned out, if cost is right, would they even be interested, so on.... We've got more to photograph tomorrow, but this is what we've come up with so far. The best are yet to come, actually, just weren't dry while my lighting is right (Yes, everything has been more than sanitized)

Click for profile 		I think the idea is awesome - you have found a market that is overpriced, you've source inexpensive base materials, you add labour to make them unique, and add value! Awesome. The popular handcraft - etsy? That would be good.

The only thing missing is make sure each bottle somehow carres your brand/logo!

Click for profile 		Thank you! That's actually something I didn't think about sticking my brand name or logo on the bottle like blowers and such do. I'm adding more today; I know it's spam to sell on here but opinions are always welcome Smile

Click for profile 		Yeah, that's awesome. My "waterpipe" (RIP) was fifty bucks and pretty, but it was TIIINY. One thing I would suggest is make sure they are sturdy enough they won't get knocked over with the tiniest of pushes. Smelly bong water everywhere and I will be sure to make sure that my next is sturdy.

Click for profile 		These were chosen because they are like, everything I'd want in a waterpipe-- sturdy thick glass-- they gotta be because we drill press the hole in it-- and they all are very flat and stable from their shapes. I don't know if you checked out the gallery, but they all are pretty largeish, not too many small ones at all-- we're trying to get the market of people who want a big nice one, but don't want artist-blown glass price. It still IS artist blown glass but we didn't blow it or buy it retail. We've got quite a couple likes on facebook but unfortnately my bank account is too low for me to put them up for sale on the Etsy page till saturday. Maybe they'll move then, problem seems to be everyone wants one but no one's making an offer. I think we're doing something wrong-- like maybe the fact that prices AREN'T listed is making people not make an offer?

That's one of our favorites, but we have to keep it. We kinda tested it ;) All the others are clean as a whistle unless someone smoked out of a vase before we made it into a waterpipe.

That one you posted above is seriously sick I'd love to have something like that. I've had the same "water pipe" since highschool and man do I love him I got I'm for like twenty eight bucks via a great discount from my friend who worked at the head shop. I'd really like to get him some brothers though haha.

Click for profile 		Thanks, I think that is what we are doing wrong. It's the first time we've sold em and we were hoping people would inquire or make and offer, but I guess if they know what we want for in they'd be less apt to think it's far too expensive and insult us with a price, y'know?

So I think I'll put up prices.

Click for profile 		I add prices today on the FB page... hopefully that will change some of our responses. We've got a lot of views-- over 4,000 I think from the shares and stuff from friends and other pages... Maybe the prices will help, even if they are too high I've got "or Best Offer"

I didn't come to Spank! to look at bongs (old, old returning member) - some luck!
I may message you about a custom job that I have attempted on my own [ended in me crying about not being an engineer].
My roommates and I have developed a real love for gravity bongs, but they are entirely embarrassing whenever anyone respectable comes over. Wouldn't be too difficult to make something opaque [less cleaning required] and less trashy than a Coke Zero bottle in a juice jug, would it?

Click for profile 		I can look, I've had a few ideas on that myself-- I personally use a 2 liter in a 5 gallon jug with the top cut off. But I think I can find and make a glass alternative, or, alternatively the reverse. A Glass waterfall?

And I really apprechiate the opinions and the praise, honestly. We're really nervous about doing this and it took a little cash to start up (That we really didn't have), but there is so little work out there-- I haven't gotten a call back from a thrift store or a dunkin donuts and that's like, less than what I've worked for before. So we're just trying to do something that we can be in control of; but I have no business degree, just artistic and he's nuts and bolts. And we both smoke....so.

We figrured there must be people out there like us that aren't as motivated to do it (since they got more..tobacco...than us.) and we can make a niche for ourselves. It's nice to know that there is an interest/they are cool looking to people other than us.
