I can't even motivate myself to make a decision. Name whatever. If I like the sounds of it I'll give you karma.

It's what I'm making tomorrow!

Or, if you don't have everything you need, then grilled cheese with apple slices and bacon in it.

OH GOD NOT INDIAN FOOD. Especially curry. Even more especially prawns. I really really hate most seafood.
And I guess I've just had bad Indian food.

However your second suggestion sounds amazing. I don't have cheese... or apples... or bacon... but I was prepared to go to the store anyway.

I love this North American idea of putting fruit into salty things.

Bacon, green onion, cheddar cheese, Italian spice mix, butter, and apple slices are on bread in the toaster oven RIGHT NOW.

The talk of beer food in the other thread made me realize that I have a bunch of old beer sitting around which I should do something about. Food-wise because I don't like drinking the stuff. Beer-battered something or other?

Also, brownies are gonna be made for dessert. I'm gonna bring a few around to all my hot house-neighbours. I'd invite you all as well but you know.

I love me a curry. I too hate prawns but you're really not eating the right indian food if it's bad. We have two types in the UK. Indian food for the British market which is rich and delicious, the meal becomes an event. Then there's the indian food made by indians for indians and that's just full of fresh flavours, bright colours and different textures yet simple and homely.

SANDWICH WAS DELICIOUS! You have both mine and the bf's approval! The onion bits went really well with the apple slices! Mmmmm! And bacon just goes well with everything!

I went to an Indian restaurant for the first time a few months ago, ordered something called a vegetable kurma. I could tell that it was well-made, but... the spices just didn't agree with me. They made my mouth burn and so it was just an unpleasant experience.

I also had an Indian roommate for a while, and whenever he was cooking I couldn't go into the kitchen because I'd start sneezing....

Ah, but I did have a friend over recently and he made butter chicken and that actually went down well. I'm amused that there was actually no butter involved.

I do like simple food...

perhaps the oddest definition of indian food i've read.

i like indian and make some things, like dahl, a lot, but this is largely because i am poor and apathetically/casually pescetarian. really, my heart belongs with middle-eastern food. i could dine very very happily on only turkish, lebanese, syrian nyum nyummm nyummm and also some north african because harissa is like my ketchup and what is easier to cook than cous cous? !

Yeah, i actually sneeze a lot while cooking, more because the spices are really pungent, and until theyère fully cooked they really get up your nose in an unpleasant way. I actually don't care to much for vegetable kurma, myself.

I would say go for things called biryani, but ask for it to be milder, or eat it with a yogurt dish, or raitha (name of the yogurt dish).
Veggie options that tend to be easier to handle include pav baji, or rugda patice, which is this nice pea soup type thing with potatoes. It's great comfort food. Also, chole, or chickpeas.

WAIT, you're in BC! Go get Dosa! It's awesome, it's like savoury crepes filled with not spicy, but fragrant veggies. It's like, the best thing ever. There's actually a guy in NYC who was profiled recently, who has a food truck in the financial district who makes dosa, and he only makes 500 a day, and when those are sold out at lunch , he just goes home. And he always sells out.

Also, glad you and the bf enjoyed! I learned the apple thing from Paula Dean.

Mmmm Dosa. Good call.

The kurma you guys are talking about I assume is the same as a Korma. Spiceless, creamy, coconut thing that gets too sickly to eat after a couple of spoonfuls?

If that's burning then maybe the butter chicken (if you guys get that on menus) is the way forward.

Tempted to go get a dosa for lunch although the place that sells dosa is always full at lunch.

She said she liked butter chicken, which is why I was providing other suggestions for things she might also like, should she visit another indian restaurant.

And yeah, I just don't like Korma. Lots of time people up the heat, without upping the flavour. Although, this is more a white boys phenomenon. Especially when they're eating chicken wings. They make them really spicey, and turn it into a dick measuring contest of who can handle them. But it's no longer about whether or not they taste good.

Yeah, I like the flavours, not the burning. My curries tend to be based on a tikka masala, but ruthlessly diluted with large quantities of vegetables...
