Click for profile 		I'm wondering what the general spank! populous thinks about this trend. When is it ok to wear leggings as pants (if ever)? Are Jeggings a legitimate fashion choice? What was your worst encounter with this phenomenon of skin tight clothing? I have recently been amazed by the masses of these present in my classrooms and have decided to use this as another means to procrastinate.

I still remain pretty firmly against leggings as pants if your top is short enough for me to see crotch region, especially if said person has leggings out of thin material. But I see no issue with longer tunic shirts and short dresses. I haven't quite made up my mind about jeggings (besides the fact that I hate the name) but I don't think they're as terrible or equitable with some of these:

Click for profile 		I will admit, I have fallen victim and have a pair of tight skinny jeans, but I NEVER wear them with a tight top. Even for these proper jeans, shirt and pants must overlapp by atleast 2 inches.

I agree with your rules for leggings. They are not pants. If you are wearing them to keep warm while wearing something that could be warn without pants while avoiding arrest for public indecency, then you're in the clear. (Ie tunics, which would be trashy without them, but nothing is actually showing).

I kind of understand the point of jeggings, as I find with any jeans warn with a tighter/more fitted top, you can often see a weird bulge where the fly is because the top corner of the fly never lays flat against you. Also, regular jeans often need belts but jeggings don't.

Unless youre in the right setting (e.g. my friend wears leggins and a cropped top to the gym) of course.

Jeggins are just butt ugly. Wear skinny jeans already.

Click for profile 		While I'm quite out-of-place here because of the whole... fashion thing, I'm just going to streak through the thread to say that I detest skinny jeans.
It's all fine, though. No-one noticed.

While I'm being opinionated about clothing - don't like leggings but can see how they could sometimes be useful. Do like tights, probably because I pretty much live in calf-high boots at the moment and they stop them wearing holes in my legs. Jeggings? Whut? Are they denim legging-things? >.>

and most people just...don't really have the body for them. because the weather is so nice here, people where them all the time. actually i see them in winter too. are they really warm in winter? because i feel like they're really thin but kinda really insulating at the same time i never really wear them i love jeans.

Click for profile 		I have a few pair of what are advertised as jeggings but function more like skinny jeans as they are made out of actual denim and have pockets and all. The only difference is the lack of a button and fly. I tend to wear them as skinny jeans with boots because I have massive calves that won't let me cram normal jean pant legs into boots. I'm too short to find a skinny jean that doesn't bunch up/need to be cuffed awkwardly at the bottom. I tend to follow Anjali's over lap rule though because it encourages comfort and warmth (aka my goal for all outfits)

Click for profile 		I have one pair of jeggings, but they're of a thicker denim material (no pajama jeans here, KTHX). Still not very flattering, but oh well. I agree with all of the aforementioned rules of thumb for wearing leggings and jeans. ALTHOUGH I am a skanky girl sometimes and if I know all I'm going to do is crawl into my studio at school and paint all day, I'll wear leggings as pants with a baggy t-shirt. It's a comfort thing, and most people don't see me anyway.

on warped tour all i wore was long tshirts. when you go through day after day after day of blazing sweltering heat you just with nudity was an option.

My friend and I had lunch today and she was wearing leggings as pants. It wasn't too offensive.

Click for profile 		I used to think I could never get away with wearing leggings, because I am faaar from skinny. Buuut my friends converted me, and now I wear them loads - with dresses, tunics etc. I would always ensure my bum and crotch were fullly covered though, and never wear them as trousers. Also, I have a pair of jeggings that I wear, but they're actually denim material, so more like skinny jeans. I just find them comfy and durable.

the better the body, the less i'm annoyed with the more ass that shows. but having a nice ass is no reason to wear leggings as pants... wear a dress or something , whatever. jeggings is an awful word.
i bought my first pair of leggings that were styled as jeans 5 years ago [this isn't me being lame and saying i'm cool and indie] but to compare then to now - i always have and will wear them with a shirt that's long enough to cover my ass.

I was wearing a very short jersey dress, in a style that looks like an extra long slouchy t-shirt, and under it I was wearing black tights which I believed to be more opaque than they were. I was at a friend's apartment playing this boardgame called Quelf, and my card said that I had to throw myself to the ground and say something like 'the horror" whenever someone passed me. And as I take games seriously, and I was drinking, I did so with zest, and a girl who I had just met that night looked down at me lying on the ground and said " I can see your bum".

I am back to avoiding short dresses.

Click for profile 		Aww, yeah... I have a friend who wear leggings under skirts all the time, and she thinks that because she's wearing them yuo can't see her underwear when she bends over. But you can.

I wear leggings and tights always with skirts (unless they're long). And I mostly wear skorts so I'm not worried about anyone seeing my bum. If I'm wearing a short skirt I make other people pick stuff up off the ground for me Very Happy

I don't like when anybody wears them as pants, no matter how nice of a body you have.

And I don't have long shirts so I avoid jeggings as I imagine they would look funny under a skirt.
