Click for profile 		What's weighing heavily on my mind right now and making me unable to focus on anything else is the recent sudden disappearance of all the feral rabbits on my university's campus. There's been a stable, harmless population of about 2000 for nearly a decade and in that time they've cemented themselves as a deep part of the school's identity and spirit. Administration started freaking out a couple of years ago saying they needed to reduce the numbers (despite local hawks and owls doing a fine job of it anyway) but promised to keep a few hundred in the centre of campus. Okay, that's fine. The extras have all been steadily sterilized, culled, and relocated to sanctuaries. Over the winter break it seems that the promised remaining rabbits have all been disposed of somehow as well. I kept wondering where they all were when I returned to classes earlier this month, but it's dawned on me that they're all gone. Looking at the university's website it seems admins have done a full 360 and have decided that they now have a proudly rabbit-free campus. You have no idea how depressing it is to not have a bunch of grazing fluffballs to walk past when they've been there every day for years. Exams will not be the same when there aren't baby bunnies popping out of bushes.
There's a whole lot of bullshit wrapped up in the whole situation and underlying issues that point to much bigger problems than the fate of a select group of lagomorphs, and it makes me very uneasy and sad.

Click for profile 		Did they... euthanize them? If so, that's really unfortunate. I think a lot of college campuses have similar situations with squirrels, and I totally agree that it's not the same without them around. I hope, in the very least, that they were humane with dealing with the problem and in the very least relocated them.

Click for profile 		I think this is going to be the quarter that I fuck up my GPA by being completely stupid and fucking off my classes, and my studying. I see it happening and I'm not doing anything to prevent it. I got a D+ on my first psych test, and today I skipped a math quiz that I probably won't be able to make up. I think it's because A) Lack of sleep. and B) I'm really stressing over getting my in-state residency so that I can start getting paid for the work I do.

It's only the 4th week so I'm sure I can pull up my grades but I'm just having a bitch of a time getting motivated.

Click for profile 		Mack, it's easy enough to do. I think my stress levels (I deal very badly with stress) are creating a deliberate barrier to me working. I have to write a 5000 word report and also complete my (totally amazing idea-wise) dissertation. Instead of doing that I went to the pub for some of my mates' graduation booze up. I stayed out until 3am talking politics with my mate in a horrible club, then fell asleep on the bus home and ended up having to walk half hour across town. This is not conducive to working hard and writing potentially publishable material.

Perhaps we should, you know, pull our fingers out?
