Click for profile 		So this week I had a pretty nasty experience with my ex property manager.

Our rental house has sat empty for 2 months since we moved into our new house. I had my walk through in the end of May and was told that I needed to scrape some glue off the tub where we had removed a sliding door [with permission from the owner].
I told her that I would not be able to do it for at least two weeks because of the wedding and whatnot. She said they did not have a new tenant so there was no hurry.

It ended up being more like 3 weeks before we made plans to head out there.

Anyhow last Friday rolls around and she calls to tell me that they have a tenant moving in and they would like to move in early and so I needed to get glue off the tub as soon as possible!! I had a catering job to work that weekend and James brother coming into town that night so I said I would do it on Monday.

Well Monday afternoon I was meeting James at the old house so he could help me with the scraping [it was some stubborn glue] and we show up the the house full of someone else's stuff. I leave the PM a message asking if it is ok to still go in and she calls back screaming.

She starts yelling at me about letting her down and how she is going to take out the cost of a new shower door from our security deposit and how we vacated the property so our lease was no longer valid and she keeps saying "WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO SILVANA!!"

I said well, be professional for one thing, you don't yell at clients like you are insane and legally I have until the end of this month to get this done so you can't take my security deposit when I was not given every opportunity to finish the repairs.
I told her that I moved in early on my lease and I was charged a daily prorated fee for the extra days which I am sure she charged the new tenant. Which means she is renting a single property to two people at one time which last time I checked is ILLEGAL!
I did not break my lease, I paid my rent on time for both the months I did not occupy the property and if she is going to deduct from my deposit I sure as hell better be getting a refund for the last 4 days of the month that she let another person live in my house.

She responded by being silent for about 30 seconds and then saying she would call me back. When she did she said that we would only be charged the cost of a new door, not the labor to install it. And that her business partner [who happens to be my awesome Realtor] decided to refund us a portion of Junes rent.


I just can't get over how bad at a given job someone can be.
I have worked at jobs that I HATED dealt with customers that were horrible and I NEVER acted so unprofessional.

I remember one day when I worked at Target, I came in really sick, I had a horrible migraine and was sick to my stomach. The girl working at the fitting room with me knew how miserable I was and when I kept smiling at customers answering the phone all cheerful and helpful she asked how on earth I did it.
All I said was, its my job!

Why do some people just not understand that concept?

Click for profile 		Yep. I had the landlady from hell once, too. Because of her I know the British Columbia Tenancy Act thing better than those dolts they prop up to be mediators. Possibly my favourite action of hers was that evening about a month after I had moved out when she sent me several one-sentence (not complete sentences though) emails in a row detailing some of the reasons she wasn't giving me my damage deposit back, and why in fact it was me who owed her money (all of this being false). You could plot her progressive drunkenness on a graph as she finally concluded with, "actually you never even lived here!!1 i have the photos to prove it!!1" likely before flopping onto the floor, drooling, bottle clutched in hand.
