Click for profile 		The application form took me two weeks to fill in, it had loads of little 300 word essays about things. If I pass that I get to have some online testing, then face to face testing, then an interview and maybe just maybe a new job in October.

I'm so excited about the slim, slim opportunity that may present it's self there.

Anyway. That process sounds almost as complicated as applying to GCHQ, but without the interrogating-all-of-your-friends bit.

Sounds like applying to the government in Canada. As long as you haven't comitted any serious crimes ever, or any crimes (not including things like parking infractions) since turning 18, security checks are usually fine. They're just time consuming because they are often backlogged. They just double check that you are who you say you are, and that it's unlikely you will punch someone out at workd.

Good luck, I know how hard it can be to gi'.ve 300ish words describing how you have a skill instead of just saying "I used this at (blank) job., Call old supervisor

Thanks Matty but I don't think I'll advertise some of the things I said here as a yoof.

Hopefully Anjali, however with the job situation and government cuts I could see them trying to recruit internally.

The mini essays really were shitty.

Click for profile 		They might also try to hire you as a contract worker. Sucks because there's no benefits, and it's only short term, but once the economy gets better, you're first in line when they can flesh out the departments again.

There were 4500 applicants for 24 jobs. I made the top 240, the majority of the people there were civil servants (and as another applicant pointed out, did all the essay and reports in a civil service way). If you ever have a weird new kind of interview about things you have done rather than schmoozing then get some practise interviews in. I think I fucked that up.

My job still gets worse, anyone recruiting? lol.

Click for profile 		That sucks bro, sorry to hear it. I hate jobs that have such crazy application processes and such a high volume of applicants for just a few positions.

I'm actually also in the job hunt myself. I might know a few places in 3D animation/modeling/visual effects industry tho if you're interested. Lots of good studios in London.
