Inactive I don't think that China deserves to have the Olympics. The country doesn't provide properly for its own people but of course there's money to build all of this olympic stuff...ticks me off...and you know the extra money that China gets from the added tourism that is caused by the olympics won't even go to the Chinese people.

Dude part of being selected by the Olympic committee means they gotta improve the city. As a result of potentially being up for 2016 Chicago's being strongarmed into finally fixing its public transportation shit.

(toll bridges are pretty rare around here! I know they're common in major cities in the states and probably around the world but not here)

The highway to the richs' playground gets fixed at tax payer expense and the poor working folk have to pay a toll to go to work!

Click for profile 		the opening ceremony was definitely the biggest in in ceremony history(which isn't really that long, since it doesn't really get "WOW!"ish until Atlanta in 96), but if you were to take out the artistic quality of it(as in, the caligraphy, the beeeeeeeautiful costumes, etc) you don't really have much except for some lights and lasers. Considering it was the opening for, you know, a sporting event, i would think that more sports-based acts would be involved, for instance acrobatics, dancing, yadda yadda yadda. But, hopefully, London will be able to fill the void of human, not technological, achievement.

Also, does anyone else think it's funny that the events that the Chinese have put the most stock into(including the 7 or so years of Project 119) are remarkably individualistic for a nation still championing communist ideals?
