I'm having computer problems. This software from The ABI Network, which I have never heard of, is installing links on my desktop, infecting my internet with pop ups, and most likely giving me viruses. When I went to my computers Control Panel to remove the software, a pop up (how ironic) came up and told me that I had to go to the ABI networks site to download an uninstall program, because apparently its the only way to remove the software. Now, I really want to get this stuff off of my computer before it ruins it, but I don't want to go to their website, download more software, and hope that they get the hell off of my computer. They told me to go to www.mypctuneup.com to get the software. Do you think I should trust them? I don't know what to do. Please help!

if you have virus software, run it now.
If you have spyware or adware removers, run them

if you do not, you need to get them immediately.
Adaware is a decent free adware remover. You can get it at http://www.lavasoft.com

If you still have the problem, consider purchasing a spyware remover, they are only about 20-30 dollars.

then go to firefox.com and download the firefox browser, stop using internet explorer, and enjoy the internet

I'm running Norton AntiVirus as we speak, but I don't think it will do much good. I ran it when this problem appeared yesterday and it caught everything else, but not this. Do you think I should trust their website?

I have the same thing, it says to do the same thing, but I don't believe them, so I just run spybot almost everyday.

go to www.cnet.com make sure you get SpyBot and nothing else. It works for me.

its free, which makes me nervous. I'd rather go to Best Buy and pick up something, but then again, I don't want to tell my dad that I killed my computer.

Um...I hope you havvent done this already but DO NOT uninstall it with Anti-Spyware. Go to the site and download the unistaller.
If you remove the soft (spy)ware with an Anti-Spyware program you only may half remove it. Causing further errors and regristy conflicts. If the uninstaller fails, then run the Anti-Spyware.

If you are still unsure, post again.

It should be safe. Read there TOS or TOC. Uninstallers should not contain spyware/malware.
If you post the url to the page, then Ishall take alook at it.

I never tried it. Too afraid. The Spybot works fine for my. My unlce suggested it, and he works for Dell, he has many patents on computer related things, so I trust him.

Hope you figure this out somehow though.

The program is safe. You can read about issues that may concern you about installing new sorftware here and also other privacy issues here

quoting: myPCtuneup.com
Q: What exactly does the MyPCTuneUp Uninstaller program do?
A: MyPCTuneUp only exists to uninstall ABI Network advertising software. It does not install any additional software, it never collects personally identifiable information, and it deletes itself after it runs. In fact, MyPCTuneUp will leave a marker on your computer which will prevent our advertising software from being installed on your machine at a later date.

If you need any further info, you may want to read though this. (HiJackThis is need for this method)
