It's an "ok" book. I haven't read Da Vinci's Code so I can't compare. By "ok" I mean the plot is fast-paced and gripping and it seems extremely well researche but Dan Brown doesn't really know how to deliver the story (in my opinion). It reads just like Robin Cook or Michael Crighton or other thrillers and I guess I was expecting something a bit different what with all the hoopla about the author's genius.
I'm about half-way into the book and so far no angels or demons. It's about this symbologist Robert Langdon (who I guss appears in Da vinci's code as well?) who is called to the crime scene when a worled-renowned physicist is murdered and his chest branded with the word "Illuminati". The Illuminati are supposed to be an ancient brotherhood that came together during the renaissance in order to fight the church's repression of science but which gets out of hand and now 500 years later they are threatening to destroy the Vatican as well as all the works of art and architecture contained within (not to mention 165 cardinals).

ANYWAY. I haven't finished it yet, but so far I can't help but feel I would rather watch this plot unfold as a movie starring Bruce Willis than to actually read it.

The thing is, I DID read the DaVinci code, and it's essentially the same book. Fast paced action, involvement with the Vatican/Christian theology, beautiful mysterious woman, different medieval/historic mysterious group. Having read the Davinci Code, I figured out the "big plot twist" in Angels and Demons a third of the way through

That sucks. I had heard they were similar. Is the DaVinci Code better somehow? Why did the second book get so much recognition whereas the first one kinda faded into the background, if they're both roughly equivalent?

I have no idea, truth be told. They're the same book. I think Davinci Code just got better press. Now that Davinci Code is popluar, Angels and Demons is getting popular too.

Inactive I don't like the end of Angels & Demons.

It was like he didn't expect to write the second one, so he just wrapped everything up too quickly in the last ten pages.

i read both, i liked angels and deamons more but i didn't think they were a lot alike. in the davinci code the characters didn't have to figure anything out, they just had to connect the dots.

I just finished the book "Lilths Dream". It was good, it was about the life of a vampire. I read a lot though. My friends say I have no life because I finished 3 books in 4 days. When I get into a book, it takes a lot to draw my attention away from the book.

now:
"The students guide to canadian universities" (from, like, 1997 but hell, it was 4 bucks on sale at chapters)

and

the new Grisham book called "The Broker." Apparently it's different than his other 50 books because it has spies

other books I'm in the middle of:
One about Operation Iceberg (Okinawa in WW2)
One about The Endurance thingey (you know...in the Antarctic)
One about the Vietnam War

I read "Big Trouble" by Dave Barry last night. It's his first fiction piece and, as usual, it's hilarious. Dave Barry is my pimp daddy
